Narrowhead embarked on a California mini tour with the band Milly, with the Soda Bar being the second stop on the road. They were joined by local shoegaze band Breadth, who was also playing in their debut show. The sounds that filled the walls between the Soda Bar were incredibly intense. I fell in love with Narrowhead the first time I got to cover them last semester for KCR, when I watched them play at the Observatory. Soda Bar is much smaller so I was curious how it would play out, and not to the surprise of anyone it was just as intense. Narrowhead’s music is so intense that you will feel it no matter if it is a crowd of 50 or 5,000.

I was also very pleased with Milly as well. I was pleasantly surprised with how much heavier they sounded live as opposed to their records. Most of the songs they performed were unreleased from their upcoming album.

The band Breadth was more experimental than the following two bands but the sound was breathtakingly captivating. I could not take my eyes off the stage if I wanted to and the rest of the crowd was in just as much awe as me. Shoegaze, and San Diego shoegaze specifically, is on the come up and this is one band I am very excited to see have more shows in the future.
