The Aztecs faced off against CSU Northridge Tuesday night.  Things stayed quiet for the first three innings until Greg Allen tripled and drove in 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd.  Seby Zavala scored a stand-up 2 RBI triple, sending the Matadors into a deep hole, putting the Aztecs up 6-0.

The Matadors struck back in the top of the 5th when Zavala fumbled a throw on a Ryan Raslowsky hit, sending Randy Lowe home, making the score 6-1.  Aztecs starter Cody Thompson was pulled after 4 and 2/3 innings in favor of reliever TJ Kendzora.  Kendzora got out of a bases loaded jam to end in the inning.

In the bottom of the 5th, freshman Kenny Rosenberg was called up to pitch for the Matadors.  He wasn’t very successful as Allen singled and the Matadors earned themselves an error and Allen went to 3rd.  He was driven home by Ty France and the Aztecs led 7-1.

The Matadors were plagued by errors throughout the game.  Second baseman Nicolas Osuna dropped a fly ball in the same inning, and Rosenberg was pulled for sophomore Anthony Cortez, who was able to get out of the mid-game jam.

Kendzora gave up an RBI single to Nico Garbella in the top of the 7th, making the score 7-2.

In the top of the 8th, the Aztecs put in Steve Pallares to close out the game.  However, he was pulled in the top of the 9th for Aztecs closer Michael Cederoth.  The Matadors struck for 3 runs thanks to Nick Blaser, making the score 7-5 with the tying run at the plate.  7-5 is all the scoring that would happen however as the Aztecs sweep the season series with Northridge.
