School can seem like a drag when you’re just coming off vacation. We get it.
When you’ve had over a month to spend time with family, hibernate, gain twice your weight, and lay around finishing five seasons worth of Breaking Bad in just one day, the last thing you want to think about is having to start school in a couple of days.
But just when you think you don’t have anything to be excited for – San Diego State comes in clutch with the Grand Opening of the new Aztec Student Union! Not only is this $104 Million project LEED Platinum certified, the highest level of sustainability, it is twice the size of the original Aztec Student Center built in 1968.
Some features of the new four story building:
- Bowling alley
- ARC Express fitness center
- Study lounges
- Foot washing station
- Lactation room
- Dining options including Oggi’s Pizza and Chipotle
And I mean, who doesn’t love Chipotle?
Awesome, right? I know. But please try to contain your excitement because it gets better! (No way Andrea, tell me how it gets better…) Well, I’m glad you asked! As a part of the Grand Opening on January 22nd, there will be events hosted at the Union every day for the first week of school.
Some of these events include a Welcome Home Address from President Hirshman, giveaways, Nooner Concerts, and a line-up of off the hook Aztec Nights events!
In addition, themed events such as Taste of the Union Day, Arts and Culture day, and Recreation and Wellness day will be hosted at the Union March 3rd – 8th.
