Hours after Young Franco’s debut in Phoenix, we met up in the artist lounge at M3F Festival to briefly talk about his set as well as go over how shocking it still is to him that people took the time out of their packed weekend to come out to see him.

Hi guys, Vanessa here with KCR College Radio! And right now I’m with…
Young Franco: Young Franco!
I have a couple questions for you! To start off, I came early, because I wanted to catch your set. How do you feel about your electric set today?
Young Franco: It was sick. I actually have never been to Phoenix before. So, it was amazing. The weather is beautiful and everyone is really nice. A couple of people drove up from San Diego, a couple people from Denver. So, it’s nice to meet all of these people.

The crowd was really good too!
Young Franco: Yeah, it was really fun!
Is it weird seeing people from a different area you’ve never been before come out and see you?
Young Franco: Oh yeah. It never fails to amaze me – it’s just amazing. I’m very, very grateful. Like people telling me their stories where they flew from or drove from, it’s really special.
It’s also like the fact people paid money to come and see you.
Young Franco: It’s never lost on me for sure.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never listened to you before?
Young Franco: Huh – I think electronic, but in a wider span. It’s a bit funky, a little bit of rap, a little bit of dance-house music. Somewhere in between there.

Would you say it’s everything you listen to wrapped into an EDM perspective?
Young Franco: That’s actually a perfect way to describe it.
