Glaive closes out the United States portion of his “I CARE SO MUCH THAT I DON’T CARE AT ALL” tour in San Diego, on October 8th, 2023.
Walking into this concert I did not know what to expect, I didn’t know much about Glaive, his fans, or his music. Glaive’s music, according to his fans, can be categorized as hyper-pop with elements of rap, not exactly my forte. Glaive himself is a young 18-year-old musician from Flordia, whose real name is Ash Gutierrez.
At the start of the concert, Glaive introduces himself and thanks the crowd for attending the last night of his tour. He goes on to mention, that because it is the last stop of the US leg of the tour he has a special surprise in store. Many fans thought he was going to bring long-time collaborator, ericdoa, out to perform with him…he did not. However, that didn’t bother fans when he performed a brand-new, unreleased song for the first time ever. Glaive said his mom really liked it, so he decided to play it for the last show.
Fans moshed through the three elevated surfaces of The Observatory North Park for an entirety of two and a half hours. Glaive had two openers for his show, ALEXSUCKS and Provoker. For the whole show, including the openers, the crowd had their energy at 110% the entire time. Both opening bands even joined the crowd and moshed through Glaive’s set.
Glaive exits the stage and the fans chant his name nonstop for the next five minutes, to which he returns to the stage for an encore. For his last song, “minnesota is a place that exists,” Glaive jumped into the crowd and sang from the center of the moshpit, which sent fans into a craze, until security had to come rescue him.
Let’s just say “ive made worse mistakes” than ending up at a Glaive concert on a Sunday night.
