Wednesday night was a night filled with 3 Game 7’s to end Round 1, and they were all thrillers. The Rangers beat the Flyers 2-1 to progress to Round 2 to take on the Pittsburgh Penguins. But the real excitement came later tonight. First off, the Avalanche and Wild went to overtime, with Nino Niederreiter scoring the game-winning goal. My personal feelings about the Avalanche (and Semyon Varlamov in particular) aside, it was a thriller. But the real upset came tonight at SAP Center. The Los Angeles Kings made history by coming back to win a playoff round from a 3-0 deficit by winning the series 4-3. The Sharks struck first, but completely collapsed in the third period, allowing the Kings to win 5-1.
Round 2 matchups are set. They begin tomorrow, with my Bruins facing the Canadiens in Boston. Chicago will face Minnesota, Pittsburgh will face New York, and Los Angeles will face Anaheim. Go Bruins!
