LA-based indie artist Jordana serenaded a sold-out crowd at Voodoo Room House of Blues in San Diego with a captivating performance of songs from her latest album, Lively Premonition. Released in October, the album oozes vocals reminiscent of 70’s yacht rock, and today’s indie pop, while still having introspective songwriting to make it her own.
The album draws inspiration from artists like Carole King, and The Mamas & The Papas, and perfectly takes from themes of love, heartbreak, and all of the joy and newfound confidence someone may have. The live-show translation from the album is all that and much more.

Jordana’s live show perfectly translated her sound with a vibrant energy brought to the show. She had an infectious energy that traveled between the artist and the crowd. Fans dressed in Buc-ee’s hoodies cosplaying the mascot Buc-ee the Beaver, as Jordana has dressed in for music videos. She lightly joked that at every show people come to, she remarks all people are there for are her popular TV Girl collaboration songs, but attendees sang nearly every song word for word from the new album.
I first started listening to Jordana around the time her single SYT came out in 2022 and her 2021 collaboration album Summer’s Over with TV Girl. She cleared all my checkmarks for an indie artist I wanted to follow through. Funny Instagram content and catchy hooks is all it takes for me.
That same humor was present on stage speaking with the crowd as if we were all friends, even taking the time to meet and greet with fans after the show ended. At one point during her encore performance playing Better in the Dark and Summer’s Over, she had a girl in the crowd surprise ask her boyfriend to prom. He said YES! Everyone applauded and bawled into tears for a joyous moment to finish the night.

Opener Rachel Bobbitt made for a soothing easy-to- listen to opener as well. Accompanied by a few bandmates and echoing voices, she put the crowd to shame for anyone who thought of her as any old opener. Almost all of her set was unreleased music for a future album that I’ll definitely keep an ear out for based on how personal and intimate her live set was.
Overall, seeing Jordana’s growth as an artist, selling out shows, and being seen as more than the name on a TV Girl record shows really speaks to her artistic abilities. Her performance at Voodoo Room was a reminder of the talent she has and the stage she commands. Excited for the future ahead for her.
