My evening at SOMA for the new music festival Peachy Fest started off with the high-energy set of Saint Luna, the first band to take over the stage. With five talented members, the San Diego band charmed the crowd with their groovy, psychedelic-rock sound. Saint Luna brought a high energy to the stage which could be felt from the sidelines. One of my favorite moments from the set was when they covered Half Full Glass Of Wine by Tame Impala; they captured the tune perfectly.

Quannnic took over the Peachy Fest stage next and they were absolutely mesmerizing. The music has a dreamy blend of melancholic vocals and shoegaze sound. Each song flowed perfectly into the other, creating a cinematic effect.

Hailing from Florida, the lead singer Nick Quan’s voice haunted the audience with vulnerability. The crowd was entranced by Quannnic’s ambient textures. The atmosphere started to feel very introspective as the sound enveloped us all and we swayed in sync.

George Clanton took the main stage after Quannnic. Knowing Clanton’s style, the lights were dimmed. His familiar sound engulfed me once again, amazing new George Clanton listeners. Behind him, he had his classic background of ever-changing LED lights with familiar symbols and swirly patterns. A marijuana leaf, a TV error screen effect, you get the idea. He’s got this refreshing vaporwave sound that is totally addictive. Every transition he made carried his music seamlessly. For lack of a better term, he’s got a really distinct brand, sound and vibe that takes you somewhere else while you dance. Paired with his glowing electronic sound, he’s got this cool, deep and passionate voice. Sometimes he screams his lyrics with vigor which brings something new and spontaneous to every live performance that I’ve seen from him. He entered the crowds arms a couple times, holding faces and singing to them. For someone who is often a one man act, he is so impressive and his show takes you to another world with cool visuals and groovy loops.

I enjoyed the very end of the night with Enjoy. The crowd obviously went ballistic for Wyatt Shears, one half of The Garden. People were happy and excited, covered in The Garden’s signature clown makeup. Circles began to open up, creating pits of Vada Vada fans dancing.

Enjoy had such an awesome muddy sound, pairing perfectly with Shears’ vocals. They played I’ve Wasted So Much Time, which meant so much to me because I listened to Enjoy often in high school.
