Ed Sheeran has tested positive for COVID-19. The “Shivers” singer announced via Instagram Sunday, October 24, 2021
The post read “Hey guy, Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for Covid, so I’m self-isolating and following government guidelines.” He continued with “It means that I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in-person commitments for now, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house. Apologies to anyone I’ve let down. Be safe everyone x.”
The news couldn’t have come at a bad time for the “Bad Habits” singer as he has a busy week ahead. Sheeran is this season “Mega Mentor” on The Voice. For those who don’t know the knockout round where Sheeran is scheduled to make an appearance is pre-recorded this week, so he will be featured in those episodes.
He’s also scheduled to perform on Saturday Night Live on November 6. No word yet if that performance will be canceled, postponed, or completed remotely; and his album “=” is scheduled to drop this Friday, October 29, 2021.
In a statement on the upcoming album, Ed shared “= is a really personal record and on that means a lot to me.” He continued “My life changed greatly over the past few years – O got married, became a father, experienced loss, and I reflect on these topics over the course of the album. I see it as my coming-of-age record, and I can’t wait to share this next chapter with you.”
