As we continue this journey of supporting up-and-coming artists, I have another new artist for you to discover. Independent artist LuxTides launched her project in September. After lots of hard work and deliberation, Danni Bouchard, of Oh Honey, poured her heart into music and created the project she had always dreamed about.

“Shadow” was the first single Danni released to the world as LuxTides.

She previously worked with Mitchy Collins as Oh Honey, but this project is 100 percent Danni, and the impact she wants her music to make on her listeners.

LuxTides is a whole new side of Danni that exposes raw and real talent. She touches on deeper issues in her music such as anxiety, depression and toxic relationships.

Anticipation was high for  her second single, “Flickered,” because she released teasers for almost two weeks prior to the debut date of Friday, Nov. 10.

Danni takes to Twitter to communicate with her fans and express what this music and project means to her.

In a tweet about the meaning behind “Flickered.” Danni said, “To anyone who has ever been lied to, cheated on, or manipulated by the person you loved most: this song is for you. Know your worth and don’t ever settle for love that makes you feel small.”

These songs have more to offer to the world than just a fun song to pass time with. I fully condone blasting them 24/7, but don’t ignore the lyrics and deeper meaning there.

Her platform may not be as big as Beyoncé’s, but Danni uses the power she has to exude positivity and show people they are not alone. Life is full of hardships, but many people experiences those same feelings and experiences in one way or another.

Her new name is derived from her love for the sea and the moon.

Before the release of Flickered, Danni tweeted “being an independent artist is so insanely tough, but also so rewarding. I’m allowed to release my music based on the phases of the moon cause I f*ckin wanna and nobody can tell me otherwise.”

And that is exactly what she did. When the moon was in it’s last quarter, the world was given “Flickered.”

All those popular artists on the radio aren’t given this freedom. That’s what makes LuxTides so unique; she pours meaning into every aspect of her career, whether it’s her lyrics or the reason behind a release date.
