SDSU’s Aztec men’s soccer team was hoping to end the losing streak at home against CSU
Fullerton Titans Saturday night. Coming into this game they had two wins, four loses, and three
ties. However, things did not go as planned with a 0-3 loss to the Titans.

Lucas Caffo started his second game of the season. Throughout the game Caffo attacked the
ball and was one of the many leaders on the field for his teammates.

Things were looking promising for the Aztecs when Nic Diana, Aztec goalkeeper, saved the ball
from going into the net during a penalty kick from the Titans.

The Aztecs had another glimpse of hope when Nik Orth found the back of the goal with a pass from
Jaxson Hutcheon. However the goal was overturned after further review, making the score still
0-0 after that call.

The second half of the game is where things started to fall apart for the Aztecs. This is when the
Titans scored three goals against the Aztecs. Jose de la Torre and Fitz Williams scored within
three minutes of each other, and Adan Alvarado scored with six minutes remaining in the game.

Things went from bad to worse when Caffo went down in the 64th minute, pausing the game.
He was slow to get back up while holding his right arm or wrist. His injury was serious enough
for him to be taken off the field for the rest of the game.

The next game the Aztecs play is their first game of the Pac-12 Conference. They travel to
Oregon State for their first game of the conference on September 30th. The home-opener for
this conference is against Cal Poly on October 7th at seven P.M. here at the Sports Deck. The
Aztecs are hoping for the team to turn it around after this shaky start to the season.
